Our Nation

This is a good day to consider our government. We live in the land of the free and the home of the brave, and that is a blessing to many don’t consider. Many things have changed since our nation began, mostly because of technology, and in the last one hundred years. Evil has always existed, from Adam and Eve, but in our nation the level of evil activities has increased greatly. We are  like the rich man who planned on building bigger barns in which to store his goods (Lk. 12:18), but we are building more and bigger prisons. Federal, state, and local governments are going broke housing prisoners. We need to recognize that God established  government (Rom. 13) and in the past he has destroyed them when evil became worse and worse. We don’t live under a king as did Israel, but the instructions  God gave them still show his attitude toward an evil government. “It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, for a throne is established by righteousness” (Prov. 16:10)  “A wise king sifts out the wicked, and brings the threshing wheel over them” (Prov. 20:26). We need to follow the instruction which says “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people”
