A God Like That
Sometimes after a tragedy in their lives, people blame God and say, “I don’t want to serve a God like that.” In other words, if God doesn’t do everything the way they desire, they will take their ball and go home.
God shouldn’t allow sickness in my family. God shouldn’t allow my children to be hurt or killed by a drunken driver. God shouldn’t let me lose my job. I prayed about this and my wife died anyway. Often, the people who make those statements are not even trying to serve God but still blame Him for tragedy and problems in their lives. Sometimes those sentiments are expressed by Christians who are overcome by sorrow, guilt or anger and blame the One they need most.
From where do the trials of life come? Why do we die? Is there a reason for all this, or is God just sitting on His throne in heaven being mean?
The fact is that we brought death upon ourselves (Gen. 3:3), and we all die because we all sin (Rom. 3:23). When a dear one dies, God is not punishing us, nor is it His fault, so why blame Him? As sad as it is, death is a part of this life and of the order of things set long ago by God. The only thing that will be accomplished by those who do not want to serve “a God like that” is a death they do not want (Rev. 20:14,21:8).
But why did God tell us to pray if he was not going to do what we asked? That’s dishonest. I don’t want to serve a God like that. Is God a liar? Did He say one thing and do another? What do the scriptures really say in comparison to what we sometimes make them say or want them to say?
Obviously, we are encouraged to pray. Here are just a few of the many scriptures that teach us so:
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Phil. 4:6).
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving (Col. 4:2).
Pray without ceasing (I Thess. 5:17).
Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (Jas. 5:16).
But, the scriptures do not promise unconditional answers:
For the eyes of the Lord [are] over the righteous, and His ears [are open] unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord [is] against them that do evil (I Pet. 3:12).
And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us (Jno. 5:14), But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering — Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume [it] upon your lusts (Jas. 1:6, 4:3).
I don’t know the mind of God or how He determines answers to prayers. That is for God to know. I do know that our part in prayer is to: (1) be faithful, or – righteous; (2) ask in faith and trust; (3) ask according to His will. It will do us little good to ask Him to violate His own laws. God is always fair in His decisions. We can blame him if we want, but that will only accomplish His just judgment of punishment upon us.
As for me, I want to serve a God like that.
Beware of sin
Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.” Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.
So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” Cain’s anger kept him from ruling over sin and he murdered his brother Able causing God to severly punish him.
Sin is a serious danger, not something laughable or funny. Yet in our day it seems that most don’t look at it in that way. It lays at the door of each one of us, and as the Lord warned “its desire is for you”. Peter says it like this: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (I Pet.5:8).
Sin needs to be identified. It runs rampant and has been accepted by far to many of our citizens. The time has come to return to righteousness as described in the scriptures, before sin destroys our nation.

It’s that time of year again, when many unsuspecting American families travel to one of the nation’s favorite family-theme parks only to find themselves at the epicenter of cultural degradation. This week, hordes of extroverted homosexuals congregated in Orlando at Disney’s Pleasure Island for the annual exercise in societal entropy they call “Gay Days at Disney.” Fortunately, the gaudy and lurid displays of sexual deviance at Disney are not typical of the public etiquette maintained by most homosexuals.
Our forefathers understood “gay” to mean “licentious, lacking moral restraints, leading a debauched or dissolute life.” The “Gay ’90s,” for example, was a decade the sagacious Mark Twain dubbed “The Gilded Age” — an era of unmitigated opulence and unrestrained immorality exercised by a subculture of the elite. Now, in the current vernacular of the fashionably PC, “gay” alludes to “homosexual” and therefore evokes the words of that inimitable American philosopher Yogi Berra: “This is like deja vu all over again.”
They may call it “gay,” but it’s not. Indeed, today’s “gay” culture is equally dissolute, and its agenda is anathema to the bedrock institution of our past, present and future — the American family.
Of course, homosexuality is not the most insidious of social trends that undermine the continuity of the traditional family — the essential governing unit and innate building block of natural society. That unfortunate distinction is reserved for those who divorce — particularly men who abandon their responsibility as husbands and fathers.
Concerns about divorce and its consequential degradation of social and moral order are not new. As Founding Father John Adams wrote, “The foundation of national morality must be laid in private families. … How is it possible that Children can have any just Sense of the sacred Obligations of Morality or Religion if, from their earliest Infancy, they learn their Mothers live in habitual Infidelity to their fathers, and their fathers in as constant Infidelity to their Mothers?”
What is new is the vast number of fatherless children in America, kids who have been largely abandoned by their biological fathers, and the incalculable burden that places on them and society. One deleterious outcome associated with some of these broken and dysfunctional families, in addition to the life sentence they serve trying to sort out the rejection issues, is the absence of a healthy sexual identity — particularly in boys who have not been fathered properly. This identity void can result in lifetime pursuit of homosexual approval.
Though divorce, unlike homosexuality, lacks a well funded and well organized advocacy movement attempting to normalize it (divorce lawyers notwithstanding), it isn’t difficult to connect the dots between dysfunctional families and homosexuality.
To understand fully the homosexual subculture and its aggressive social agenda, then, one must gain some rational insight into the pathology of homosexual behavior. Unfortunately, there are few comprehensive treatises on the subject that inspire rational discourse — as opposed to emotive rants.
A few years ago, the most learned debates over the ordination of a homosexual cleric as Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire revealed that not only the Episcopal clergy and laity needed assistance understanding this issue, but the Christian Church as a whole needed clarity. Indeed our whole society needs a better, and in some cases more compassionate, understanding of homosexual pathology.
Consequently, The Patriot has just published The Homosexual Agenda and The Christian Response on line, a comprehensive yet concise review of gender-disorientation pathology. It’s an essay that anyone, inside or outside the Church, making a psychological, theological or social argument concerning homosexuality, should read.
The real value of this landmark report’s substance is not measured in the accolades from conservatives around the world who have reviewed it, but in the unguarded praise it has received from homosexuals (including some activists), who responded that, for the first time, they have been able to comprehend, with the help of this analysis, both the Christian theological and conservative social perspective and objections, without feeling personally attacked.
Every American family is under assault from many quarters, one of the most menacing being the challenge to traditional sexual morality. The Homosexual Agenda and The Christian Response, provides context for understanding sexual deviancy and addresses the familial origins and pathology of such deviance, the political, cultural and social “normalization” agenda of homosexual practitioners, the conflict this agenda has created within the Christian Church, and an appropriate Christian response.
High on the homosexual political agenda list is same-sex marriage. President Bush announced this week his support for a Constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman. While we would support such an amendment, we believe that if the President is going to use what is left of his political capital to mobilize a national movement to amend our Constitution, there are much more important amendments to consider, starting with one mandating [a balanced federal budget| http://PatriotPetitions.US/intro.asp?id=16] (just as most states require a balanced state budget).

SAR-SEKIM THE BABYLONIAN

Recently translated Babylonian tablet (595 BC) naming Sar-sekim as “chief eunuch” of King Nebuchezzar
“…Recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes” (Dan 4:32).
Jerusalem was captured by King Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylonian army in 586 BC (Jer 39:1-2). The unpopular prophetic warnings of Jeremiah, mocked by the Judean Jews, had come true. His ministry was vindicated by God’s control of history for His redemptive purposes (Jer 1:10).
“Then all the officials of the king of Babylon came in and sat down at the Middle Gate: Nergal-sar-ezer, Samgar-nebu, Sar-sekim the Rab-saris, Nergal-sar-ezer the Rab-mag, and all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon” (Jer 39:3). “Nergal-sar-ezer” means “king Neriglissar” who was the son-in-law of King Nebuchadnezzar, who later reigned over Babylon’s world empire in 560-556 BC.
It is quite interesting that the Babylonian official, “Sar-sekim,” has been recently discovered in an extra-Biblical text that was translated in 2007 from Babylonian tablets in the British Museum. This character’s historicity is validated in this 595 BC tablet naming him as the “chief eunuch” of King Nebuchadnezzar.
The scholar who translated this said, “These officials are mentioned very rarely in these sources…[It] is quite extraordinary.” The Bible is the historically accurate record of God’s intervention in time and space to accomplish His plan of salvation.
Remember that the Babylonians, as world rulers, captured and entered Jerusalem only because God allowed it! God said of the Babylonians, “I will gather them into the center of this city” (Jer 21:4). God gave the city “over to the hand of the Chaldeans” (Jer 22:25, cf. 32:28). God decreed the Jews would serve the king of Babylon seventy years (Jer 25:11), so a purified remnant would emerge to bring the Messiah into the world.
God still oversees history! With massive political changes, economic problems, and world turmoil, we can trust that God is in full control of the universe. Governments rise and fall, but God still has His all-knowing, all-wise, all-powerful Hand in it all. “Recognize that it is heaven that rules” (Dan 4:26).
Homosexuals give Obama standing ovation

President Barack Obama was given a hero’s welcome last night as he addressed the nation’s most powerful homosexual group.
The estimated crowd of three thousand homosexuals and supporters attending the annual dinner of the Human Rights Campaign gave Obama a standing ovation as he repeated his pledges to meet some long-standing demands of homosexual activists.
Obama restated his campaign pledge to allow homosexual men and women to serve openly in the military. ” I will end ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ he told the crowd.
He offered no timetable or specifics and he acknowledged some may be growing impatient.
“I appreciate that many of you don’t believe progress has come fast enough,” Obama said. “Do not doubt the direction we are heading and the destination we will reach.”
Some advocates said they already have heard Obama’s promises and now they want a timeline. Cleve Jones, a pioneer activist and creator of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, said Obama delivered a brilliant speech, but added “it lacked the answer to our most pressing question, which is when.”
“He repeated his promises that he’s made to us before, but he did not indicate when he would accomplish these goals and we’ve been waiting for a while now,” said Jones, national co-chair of a major gay-rights rally scheduled for Sunday on the National Mall.
Obama also called on Congress to repeal the Defense Of Marriage Act, which limits how state, local and federal bodies can recognize partnerships and determine benefits. He also called for a law to extend benefits to domestic partners.
He expressed strong support for the HRC agenda of ending discrimination against gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people but stopped short of laying out a detailed plan for how to get there.
“My expectation is that when you look back on these years you will look back and see a time when we put a stop against discrimination … whether in the office or the battlefield,” Obama said
“We have never had a stronger ally in the White House. Never,” Joe Solmonese, the group’s president, said at the dinner before the president spoke.
We realize that many do not want to insert the bible into this subject, but like it or not, God does and will have something to say about. Our nation is becoming more and more evil in the things condoned by the laws our government is passing or attempting to pass. The discussion is not merely about human rights, but about the justification of sin, the violation of marriage as God made it, and evil in general.
This example of our President, and Congress, is an example of how little effect God has on the direction of our leaders. Does anyone think that the founding Fathers would have even considered such, or were they familiar with Sodom and Gomorrah.

Watching and Warning
“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me: 
18When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. 19Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
Ezekiel was a priest of Israel. God made him a watchman to warn the people, both wicked and righteous, and said to him 4“Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them”. 7But the house of Israel will not listen to you, because they will not listen to Me; for all the house of Israel are impudent and hard-hearted.
God always gives us warning that he will not allow evil to go unpunished. It is time to heed that warning, instead of following those who deceive us into thinking that God is so good that he will not punish sin. You have been warned.
The Christian and Racism
A lot has been said about racism recently. Some accuse those who demonstrate against certain government issues of being racist. One of our former presidents recently played the race card. News broadcast help spread the racism issue.
Are there still racist in our nation? I suspect there are. Did it exist in the past in all walks of life? Certainly. Does racism involve all races of people? Yep. Can a person be a christian and a racist? That is the subject we want to explore.
Since Accuracy In Religion accepts only the bible as the final word on any religious matter, notice some scriptures.
“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him;” “And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him;” “But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons;” “And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear” “For there is no respect of persons with God.” (Acts 10: 34, 35; Eph. 6: 9; Col. 3: 25; I Pet. 1: 17; Rom. 2:11). We can see that God shows no favoritism. All nations are His creation. Nor does he allow his children to show respect to individuals (James 2). Notice James says “If you show partiality, you commit sin”.
The bible plainly shows that a Christian cannot be partial, whether in race, social statis, government position or in any other way.
The other question we ask is, can a christian express agreement or disagreement on some fact or subject without being a racist. Again, look at the bible. The apostle Paul expressed truth about the idols in Athens (Acts 17:16-34), Peter and John expressed disagreement with the Jewish rulers upon being told to quit speaking in Jesus name (Acts 4). Other examples could be sited, but these will suffice.
For any man to level charges of racism, without factual knowledge of the other persons mind is sinful in itself (Titus 3:2). Also, trying to deceive others into believing an untruth about another is sin within itself (James 4:8). Many honest people agree or disagree on various subjects without race entering the picture.
It is time for honesty in our nation. People need to be honest in all things. It may seem like to much to ask since many “seek their own” as Paul said, but we need to strive for that characteristic. Stop the lies, false charges, self serving, and “speak every man truth with his neigbor”. Christians cannot be racist and be right before God, but neither can any other man. However, speaking truth, seeking honest answers, standing against deceit and lies, and seeking a host of othe good things, as described in the bible, have nothing to do with race, or ethnic background. THEY ARE ASKING FOR MAN TO DEAL WITH MAN AS GOD EXPECTS HIM TO DO.

“The latest of many examples of government arrogance has come in New Hampshire, of all places, where the state motto is ‘Live Free or Die.’ A state judge has ordered a girl who was being educated at home by her mother to begin attending a public school because of the ‘rigidity’ of her mother’s religious views. The judge, Lucinda V. Sadler, said that the 10-year-old girl needed to consider other worldviews as she matures. … There are a number of issues in this case, not the least of which is the court’s attempt to define what represents an ‘extreme’ religious view and what is more ‘mainstream.’ A growing number of parents, including some in my family, home-school their children. My personal experience is that these kids get a better education, are better adjusted and easily gain entry into college because of their superior grades and seriousness of purpose, not to mention their character. Another issue is the apparent one-way street constructed by Judge Sadler. If a Christian girl ought to go to public school to learn about other views (this presumes she does not know about them through study at home, reading a newspaper or turning on the television), why shouldn’t the judge order a public school student to get a Christian-Jewish-Islamic-based education so that such a student might become acquainted with the Bible-Talmud-Koran? … Amanda’s mother retained the Alliance Defense Fund, the conservative legal alliance that works to defend religious liberty, but meanwhile, the girl has been forced by the court to sit in a fifth-grade classroom, which is a violation of her and her mother’s consciences and the First Amendment. … I’m on the side of the people. The New Hampshire judge and the Obama administration are on the side of the elites. And that’s why so many are justifiably angry.” –columnist Cal Thomas
Christians will eventually have to learn to fight against those who would take away from them their God given rights and responsibility. The scriptures give Fathers the obligation of “raising their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6). So far the courts have taken away much of where the bible can be taught, prayers said, where and what can be posted and now they want to tell us how, and what to teach our children. When will we say ENOUGH?
